About this role

Our Pharmacy Coordinator will provide management of the medication delivery system. Works effectively with patients, patient families, departmental staff, dental staff, medical and nursing staff, security staff at all levels, administrative and support staff, and all health service providers, including, but not limited to, laboratory, hospital, medical supply, and medical and dental consultants. Works under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and a licensed pharmacist, preparing medications for delivery to patients at the Correctional Facility.

Additional Details

LVN very knowledgeable on medications - will lead med aide staff. Day 8 hrs.

What you bring to the table

Education:           

  • Graduation from high school or GED required 
  • Must have completed a Certified Nursing or Medical Assistant, EMT, or Pharmacy Technician program

Experience:        

  • One (1) or more years experience in a hospital, clinic or correctional setting preferred
  • Will consider combination of experience and training

Licenses/Certifications: 

  •  Current CPR Certification

What you will do

  1. Assist the pharmacist in the preparation of drug dosage forms.
  2. Ensure that all medications are properly packaged, labeled, and prepared for distribution.
  3. Assist with the maintenance of pharmacy records.
  4. Assist with the maintenance of inventory and audit procedures and records.
  5. Maintain the security of all medications and supplies under their control or supervision.
  6. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.
  7. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
  8. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
  9. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
  10. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
  11. Post orders, if applicable, per site contract.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
