About this role

Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, the Program Director supervises, directs and coordinates the rehabilitation program. The Program Director has direct supervisory accountability for all assigned positions from entry level to advanced degrees to include, but not limited to Assistant Program Director, Activities Director, Social Services, Clinical Specialists, Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialists, Rehabilitation Counselors, and Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist(s).

What you bring to the table


  • Minimum of M.A. or M.S. in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or related mental health field (required).




  • Minimum of (5) five years of experience as a master’s level professional mental health professional related to the specific skills necessary to manage and oversee department objectives. Two (2) to three (3) years of increasingly responsible mental health experience including manager or supervisory experience.
  • Leadership experience in a fast paced, medium to large company. Management of 30+ staff of varying skill and across disciplines in healthcare. (Preferred)




  • Current licensure by the State of California as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage, Family and Child Counselor (MFCC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Clinical Psychologist (Required). Or the candidate must be able to obtain such licensure within six (6) months following the commencement of employment.

What you will do

  • Ensures compliance and staffing ratios within established guidelines, policies and procedures of the overall program and timely completion of respective reporting requirements.
  • Provides program and activity staff with professional/technical development, education, support, training, assigning and reviewing work, and evaluating performance.
  • Ensures full compliance with all regulatory requirements including but not limited to Title IX, HIPAA, and CARF.
  • Participates in Recruitment, Onboarding, Training and ongoing evaluation of staff.
  • Advises the Executive Team on project feasibility, optimum utilization of Department personnel and equipment, resources, policy implementation considerations, and other specialized or technical questions.
  • Plans and implements actions necessary to correct deviations from established standards of documentation and care (incident reports, plans of correction, documentation deficiencies, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director for issue resolutions and projects to improve workflow processes throughout the department utilizing a proactive approach.
  • Provides oversight for the admissions and discharge process to ensure facility can provide maximize unique clients served as outlined through contractual obligations.
  • Develops a plan for regular assessment of clinical competency of staff and reports findings.
  • Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
  • Develops and utilizes policies and procedures for the procurement of supplies, materials, equipment and services, including those related to program and rehabilitation projects; communicates and coordinates with external purchasing officials as needed to maintain cooperative relationships and consistent practices.
  • Collects and analyzes data related to strategic and annual plans, consumer satisfaction and outcome of services
  • Utilizes data and evaluation of services to provide quality improvement recommendations as a key member of the quality assurance team.
  • Incident report review and follow-up to completion or close-out.
  • Develops and manages all aspects of departmental budget including preparation, submission, maintenance, inventory, reporting and audits, and annual operating budgets.
  • May work with Clinical Director, Administrator or Departmental Heads to ensure goals align with organization’s overall operational performance.
  • May involve a high degree of personal contact with advisory boards, staff, elected and appointed officials, the County, and other agencies, (i.e. police, fire, hospital, and cities) within the County.
  • Responds, as required, to support public health emergencies, incidents and events. Participates in all exercises and drills on emergency preparedness and response, as required. Completes training's identified as appropriate for this level employee.
  • Oversee department compliance with safety procedures, including serving on the Safety Committee and facilitation of safety drills.
  • Attends departmental and facility committee meetings as assigned.
  • Monitor integrity of charts (storing of, HIPAA etc.)
  • Develops and conducts educational and promotional programs for community groups.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for all departments
