About this role

Under the direction of the Program Director or other appropriate administrative staff, is responsible for providing supervision and guidance for the work of employees in the Program Department functions during the assigned shift and is direct leadership support for the units while at the facility. The Program lead participates in managerial functions of the Program Department, specifically in regard to the day-to-day internal department functioning and regulatory requirements to include but not limited to Title 9 and CARF requirements.


The Program Lead is a role developed to work in coordination with the Program Director in an assigned unit or shift to ensure the work is accomplished effectively, and is the first line support for staff, and other related providers on department-specific program issues. The Program Lead is responsible for duties as directly assigned by the Program Director and will include ensuring Program Department is overall in compliance with various standards set forth by Title 9 / CARF, as well as monthly/quarterly quality assurance reports. The Program Lead will also assist with staff training and monitoring on day-to-day operations, safety standards, and daily documentation. Additionally, one of the Program Lead’s primary duties will include oversight and enforcement of quality care offered to clients on a daily basis.
The Program Lead is responsible for ensuring client care is priority on a daily basis. The Program Lead is proficient in crisis de-escalation skills, is attuned to mental health clients and possesses strong interpersonal skills to lead a team of other program staff members, as well as interact with other departments. The Program Lead collaborates with the Program Director, Director of Social Services, and Clinical Director on clinical and non-clinical issues (employee relations, individual behaviors, clinical relationships, etc.). The Program Lead is responsible for supervising, directing, coaching and mentoring their assigned core group of staff.


The Program Department (Lead) ensures compliance with department protocols, policies, guidelines, and facility standards, and assists with the coordination of daily operations, activities, and personnel of the department.

What you bring to the table

Education:

  • M.A. or M.S. in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or related field (or graduating within 3 months). Up to two years of graduate professional education may be substituted for the experience requirement on a year-to-year basis.
  • Or: Baccalaureate degree and four years of experience in a mental health setting as a specialist in the fields of physical restoration, social adjustment, or vocational adjustment.
  • Successful candidates may be given credit for additional experience in lieu of a graduate-level education. This exchange is assessed on an individual basis and may be achieved through additional, demonstrated experience in the fields of health administration, psychology, nursing, social work or closely-related fields or positions at the sole discretion of the hiring manager and/or the Human Resource Department.

Experience:

  • Minimum of (6) months to one (1) year of experience as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist or Clinical Specialist or other mental health worker experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform satisfactorily the duties of the position may be considered.
  • Completion of the core competencies of the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist (PSRS), Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist, and/or Clinical Specialist at ASTCI highly preferred.
  • One (1) to (2) years of increasingly responsible mental health experience including some lead supervisory experience. (Preferred)
  • Bilingual (Preferred)
  • Training or experience with electronic medical records (e.g. Cerner) preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current CPR/BLS certification (required)
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license as the position may require driving company vehicles. (Preferred)
  • Registered intern licensed or licensed eligible as Psychologist, MFT, LCSW, LPCC (Preferred). All licensed ASTCI personnel will be required to obtain and provide a National Provider Number (NPI number) to Human Resources for reporting purposes.
  • CPI Certification (provided by the facility within first 90 days of employment). Interest in Crisis Intervention Training Certification and ongoing education preferred (CPI facilitator certification)

What you will do

  • Assists with planning, organizing and implementing activities of the department;
  • Develops reporting systems to enable the proper evaluation of the total program including the generation of necessary narrative and statistical data to prepare required reports;
  • Provide hands-on support to other Program Staff members, demonstrate proper techniques in client support, and ensure that all Program Staff on during that shift are also able to provide appropriate and safe client support.
  • General responsibilities are focused on oversight and/or assisting Program Staff in the assessment of client needs, participation in the plan of care, crisis intervention, adherence to policy and procedure, and the evaluation and documentation of outcomes achieved.
  • Review of staff work, interpretation of Program Department policy and procedures for staff, and interviewing and selection of staff.
