How you make a difference

As a Medical Director, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring strict adherence to company and institutional security regulations, while diligently providing essential documentation of medical services to the Regional or Corporate Medical Director, facilitating ongoing monitoring of service delivery and contract compliance. Your commitment to transparency extends to promptly notifying the Regional or Corporate Medical Director and Health Services Administrator of any schedule adjustments, ensuring seamless coverage for medical services even during extended absences, demonstrating your dedication to maintaining high-quality healthcare provision.



Key Responsibilities

  • The Medical Director plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive medical care within a correctional facility, including examining referred patients, daily infirmary visits, and ensuring thorough, problem-oriented documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or on approved forms.
  • They demonstrate clinical expertise by responding to emergencies, supervising and instructing healthcare personnel, and consulting with medical specialists and professionals to deliver high-quality care while adhering to established policies and standards.
  • The Medical Director collaborates with the Health Services Administrator to improve patient outcomes through continuous quality improvement initiatives, including Chronic Care Clinics, pharmacy service monitoring, and liaison with community healthcare providers.
  • They take an active role in reviewing and approving treatment protocols, clinical policies, and disaster plans, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
  • The Medical Director's commitment to excellence extends to providing clinical oversight, participating in the Continuous Quality Improvement Committee, and making recommendations to enhance patient care and safety.



Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Medical school graduate. 

Experience

  • Experience in Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine or Public Health preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Must have and maintain current licensure within the State of employment.
  • Maintains a current DEA number.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
  • Must maintain privileges. Maintains CME requirements for continued medical practice in the State.
