How you make a difference

The RTC Licensed Mental Health Clinician/Trainer works under the guidance of the Health Services Administrator (HSA) or Program Manager (PM) to oversee the clinical and educational training aspects of the Restoration of Competency (RTC) program. As a licensed and highly trained clinician (LMFT/LCSW/LPC), they employ cognitive remedial techniques to teach legal concepts and help patients understand their own legal situations while adhering to relevant standards and regulations. Additionally, the Clinician/Trainer serves as the main source of therapeutic support to patients, fostering their mental stability during the competency restoration process.



Key Responsibilities

• Ensure strict compliance with county and corporate policies and procedures, adhering to guidelines and standards relevant to the role of the Clinician/Competency Trainer.
• Conduct individual sick calls and facilitate psycho-educational groups for mentally ill and IST patient-inmates on a daily and weekly basis, providing necessary support and education.
• Collaborate with medical providers and psychiatrists to obtain medication history, verify current medications, and discuss conditions requiring attention beyond established protocols.
• Collaborate with RTC psychologist to produce timely court reports, follow admission, transfer, and discharge protocols, and maintain positive relationships with jail and RTC custody staff as well as the Sheriff's Office team.
• Develop and update treatment plans, participate in multidisciplinary Treatment Team meetings, provide individual clinical support to patients using cognitive-behavioral techniques, and coordinate discharge planning and aftercare utilizing community resources.



Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Master’s Degree with associated licensure as a LPC, LCSW or related discipline

Experience

  • One + years’ experience  as an LPC, LCSW or related discipline
  • Knowledge of IST patients and treatment and patients with major mental illnesses
  • Skillful in group facilitation
  • Leadership and management experience
  • Previous correctional/detention facility experience

Licenses/Certifications

  • LPC or LCSW

Compliance

  • Must obtain and maintain security clearance throughout the course of employment.
  • Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS certification through AHA
