How you make a difference

As a licensed Psychologist in the State of employment, the RTC Psychologist is responsible for conducting assessments of mentally ill and Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST) patients in the RTC program, utilizing standardized testing tools to assess for competency, provide opinions on restoration, and produce timely reports to the court. Strict adherence to court and company Policy & Procedure (P&P) Manual is mandatory in all duties performed by the RTC Psychologist. The RTC Psychologist works under the direction of the Health Services Administrator (HSA), RTC Program Director (PD), or higher licensed health professional.



Key Responsibilities

  • Strict adherence to court and company Policy & Procedure (P&P) Manual in all duties performed, including timely submission of court reports per reporting statutes.
  • Conduct psychological assessments and utilize approved testing measures to assess and reassess patients within designated intervals, including assessment of cognitive functioning and ability to learn.
  • Participate in Treatment Team meetings, provide clinical support and guidance, and establish a weekly "Doctor's Group" within the treatment area as needed.
  • Work cooperatively with courts, Sheriff's Office team, and foster supportive relationships between staff and Sheriff's Deputies/Officers.
  • Document all findings in patient's health record, provide written summaries of history and treatment course, and may assist in job shadowing and orientation/training of new employees. Adherence to county/court and company P&P is required in all psychologist duties and functions.



Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Education associated with licensure as a Psychologist in state of employment

Experience

  • One+ year experience post licensure (PhD or PsyD)
  • Knowledge of IST patients and associated treatment
  • Experience with applicable psychological testing measures for Competency assessment, malingering, cognitive impairment, etc.
  • Previous correctional/detention facility experience

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensure as a Psychologist in state of employment
  • Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS certification through AHA

Compliance

  • Must obtain and maintain security clearance throughout the course of employment.
