How you make a difference

The Addictionologist is responsible for providing comprehensive substance use services, which include assessments, treatment, and support for recovery to individuals who are dually diagnosed. They will also track program participation and share this information with the appropriate administrative and supervisory staff. Additionally, the Addictionologist will integrate substance use services with ongoing mental health treatment, ensuring consistency and involving multi-disciplinary clinicians while sharing information. 



Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts assessments of substance use disorder patients to identify their stage of change and develop individualized treatment plans. 
  • Provides counseling services, including both individual and group counseling, to support patients in their recovery. 
  • Collaborates with medical and detoxification staff to ensure comprehensive care for patients with substance use disorders. 
  • Contributes to discharge planning and aftercare plans, working to integrate substance use services with ongoing mental health treatment. 
  • Prepares reports and provides training and consultation to other staff on substance use disorders to support the overall effectiveness of the program. 



Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Medical doctorate (MD) from an accredited university.

Experience

  • Two (2) years post residency clinical experience in an inpatient setting, psychiatric experience referred. 

Licenses/Certifications

  • Current licensure as a Physician within the state of employment
  • Board certification in Addiction Medicine
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Current DEA License
