How you make a difference

As the Mental Health Director, you will be responsible for providing clinical and administrative oversight for the Mental Health program and staff within the facility. This includes providing clinical supervision and direction to Mental Health Professionals and ensuring that mental health services are consistent with professional training and experience. Additionally, you will provide consultation regarding the mental health program to ensure that it meets the needs of patients and the facility. 



Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and supervise the clinical services of mental health staff, including professional education and development. 
  • Provide clinical and consultation services in accordance with policies and procedures, APA and NCCHC/ACA standards, and perform direct clinical services as needed. 
  • Allocate staff resources, maintain communication with institutional staff, and provide staff disciplinary counseling and performance evaluations. 
  • Direct and supervise all mental health treatment planning, provide oversight of clinical documentation, and offer in-service opportunities to staff. 
  • Develop and implement clinical service goals and objectives, carry out staff selection and recruitment, and provide direct clinical services as needed, while also supervising clerical support staff. 



Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Master’s Degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an accredited college or university. 

Experience

  • Experience in the coordination and administration of mental health service delivery systems. 
  • Significant coursework and professional experience in the mental health field that indicates knowledge of management and supervision techniques, peer review, quality assurance, group and individual psychotherapy, diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders, and psychological evaluation techniques. 

Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) 
  • Must maintain CPR certification, and any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract.
