The Labor Relations Corporate Counsel serves as the company’s subject matter expert on labor law and organized labor matters. This role oversees labor relations, ensuring compliance with labor laws and managing collective bargaining agreements. The position leads union contract negotiations, advises on grievances, arbitrations, and disputes, and represents the company in NLRB proceedings and labor arbitrations. The Counsel also provides guidance to HR and Operations leaders on labor law issues and creates training programs on labor strategies. This role requires travel as needed to support labor relations across various sites.
EDUCATION
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
EXPERIENCE
3+ years’ substantive experience in labor relations required
Experience independently handling union contract negotiations and union avoidance strategy and implementation
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Valid CA bar license
Must be licensed to practice law in state of employment
Must register as in-house counsel in TN within 180 days of start of employment
Provide day-to-day legal counsel on labor law issues, union interactions, campaigns, and employee discipline in unionized settings.
Lead collective bargaining negotiations and administer union contracts, grievances, and arbitrations.
Represent the company in labor disputes, NLRB proceedings, arbitrations, and other administrative hearings.
Develop and implement labor relations strategies, conduct audits, and train leaders on compliance and best practices.
Monitor and advise on new labor legislation, NLRB rulings, and related legal developments.
