The Quality Assurance Nurse oversees the clinical operations of the Quality Assurance Program to ensure compliance with NCCHC standards, policies, and applicable laws. This role leads quality improvement initiatives by establishing committees, preparing reports, and evaluating clinical performance data. The QA Nurse collaborates with facility leadership and mental health providers to develop process improvements, corrective actions, and outcome studies. They ensure physician chart reviews, facilitate accreditation readiness, and support suicide prevention strategies. The position operates independently, often in correctional facilities, and may involve travel.
Lead the CQI committee, coordinate quarterly meetings, and prepare audit and internal quality reports
Oversee data collection and analysis for QA initiatives including intake, pharmacy, mental health, and emergency care
Develop and evaluate corrective action plans in collaboration with the Health Services Administrator
Support NCCHC accreditation through ongoing maintenance of compliance documentation
Collaborate with Mental Health to address suicide prevention and conduct morbidity/mortality reviews
EDUCATION
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing
EXPERIENCE
Two (2) or more years clinical nursing experience preferred
Previous corrections experience preferred
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Currently licensed in the state within which services is provided
Current CPR and AED Basic Life Support Certification
