Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, is responsible for accomplishing the day to day licensed nursing care and related technical work in the care, treatment, and rehabilitation of mentally ill individuals. Under the direct supervision of Nursing Leadership, the Licensed Nurse ensures the safety of the milieu by evaluating medical stabilization, monitoring, assessment and reporting of client needs, crisis intervention, providing structured activities and support. Additional responsibilities include documentation related to daily care, reporting changes to physicians, and assisting with licensed nursing-related duties assigned. The Licensed Nurse will be monitored; under direct management supervision at all times and is responsible to follow through with tasks as trained and as assigned. The Licensed Nurse will be in continual conversation with supervisors regarding client medical care, behavioral stabilization as well as communicate regularly with other members of multidisciplinary team. The Licensed Nurse position is expected to promote safe, clean, and healthy environment for facility clients. The Licensed Nurse may be required to perform tasks which involve exposure to dangerous equipment and must follow the required procedures for handling, cleaning, or moving of objects/materials and /or cleanup of materials. This position also requires physical capabilities to perform job duties, flexibility in schedule and ability to work in a variety of conditions and multiple environments. The Licensed Nurse ensures compliance with department protocols, policies, guidelines, and facility standards. 85% of duties include direct client care.

The Director of Nursing at Alpine Special Treatment Center has overall responsibility for organizing, implementing, and evaluating the Nursing services provided at the facility. The Director of Nursing provides Nursing (licensed and unlicensed) staff with leadership, education, direction and guidance in all client matters and ensures full compliance with all regulatory requirements including but not limited to Title 9, HIPAA and CARF. Additionally, he/she must possess strong leadership skills as primary duties include the oversight, training and enforcement of quality care offered to clients on a daily basis. The Director of Nursing has administrative authority, responsibility and accountability for the nursing services within the mental health rehabilitation center and may serve only one facility in this capacity at any one time if the mental health rehabilitation center is 42 beds or more. The director of nursing service shall not have charge nurse responsibilities if the mental health rehabilitation center is 42 beds or more. The Director of Nursing assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of nursing services in the facility. In collaboration with facility Administration, allocates department resources in an efficient and economic manner to enable each resident to attain or maintain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. Collaborates with other departments, medical professionals, consultants, and organizations, including government agencies and advocacy groups, to develop, support and coordinate resident care, related administrative functions, and to represent the interests of the facility.
