The Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist has overall responsibility of assisting an individual who has a psychiatric disability in the process of restoration of community functioning and well-being. This position seeks to effect changes in a person's environment and in a person's ability to deal with his/her environment, so as to facilitate improvement in symptoms or personal distress. These services are combined with independent living and social skills training, vocational rehabilitation, social support and network enhancement, and access to leisure activities. Activities selected will focus on challenging stigma and prejudice to enable social inclusion, on working collaboratively in order to empower clients, and sometimes on a goal of full psychosocial recovery. They focus on helping individuals develop skills and access resources needed to increase their capacity to be successful and satisfied in the living, working, learning, and social environments of their choice.
In addition, the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist works with clients, their families, conservators, internal and external stakeholders to address concerns or special needs that may arise during their course of treatment within the facility. The Psychosocial Rehabilitation Specialist works directly with various members of the healthcare team, facility departments, and administration to solve problems that client, families, conservators, internal and external stakeholders may have with the goal of facilitating a positive client experience during their time at the facility. Designs and implements programs, policies and practices to ensure that all departments are in compliance with DHCS, Title 9, and CARF accreditation standards, HIPAA regulations and all applicable state, federal and local statutes pertaining to facility licensing, regulation, and contract compliance as applicable. Works directly with facility leadership to ensure compliance with the contract between the facility and contracting agencies for the management of the facility. In addition, this position ensures compliance to all organizational, contractual, state, and federal rules and regulations. The position relies heavily on strong interpersonal, computer, and analytical skills to identify problems. Completes root cause analysis and provides solutions to management and executive team.
